We’re feeling it. The weather has finally warmed. The sun is out, the grass is green and the sprinkler is going! Are you ready to take your summer cooking to the next level? The summer season is so short and I want to help you take advantage of all the ways your cooking can rock during the warmer months. I’m sharing 5 tips to help you make the most of the summer cooking life.

  1. Do invest in the fruits (and veggies of the season) cooking seasonally is not only away to support the local farmer scene, but it’s a way to eat produce at peak freshness. Do you think you’ve tried all the corn from that local family farm? I’ve bet they’ve got a ton of varieties for you to check out. See what you can try today!
  2.  After you’ve shopped locally, don’t forget to preserve the fruits (and veggies of your labor) Chop herbs and freeze for use in the winter. Turn those berries and peaches in to delicious preserves.  Pack your freezer for smoothies in the colder months. You’ll be glad you did.
  3. Use your grill for more than meats. Yes! Grilled fruits and veggies can be quite tasty. Make sure you have the right tools for the job!  A grilling basket will keep grilled peaches from falling through the grill grates.
  4. Make it a non cooked night! Grab a big bowl and serve a chilled salad that your made the night before. Take some leafy greens and make lettuce wraps packed with chicken you grilled up the other day. Take the time to enjoy the summer! It will be gone before you know.
  5. The sweetness of summer shouldn’t go unnoticed. Sweet treats can be made in a flash with ice, summer treat molds or even a chilled can. Who says ice cream has to be churned? There are tons on easy frozen desserts to be made with the summer bounty. Try this one
