I’m finally able to sit down and write about it. My first solo foodie event. It came. I cooked. People were fed. It was awesome. No really, it was. Foodlovetog presents Appetite: The Wine Down happened. It really happened. The event I almost canceled due to fear. But that is a post for another day. When crafting this event, I knew I wanted to host something special. Something for people to dine, and just let down their hair. Nothing too stuffy, but elegant food and great conversations. So I went to work. I sat out to create a plated, private dining event for around 8-10 people. I believe in crafting intimate food spaces, that is exactly what I was able to do. I always say that feeding people is my love language. Deep down, events are my jam. I love creating spaces where people can commune and be fed and just enjoy each other. That is what Appetite is all about. Intimate dining experiences. Moments. Food. Conversation. I live for that.
I combed over my menu for weeks, I got the pairings down perfectly with my wine specialist, Sip & Share Winery. I poured over swag bag ideas, the tablescaple, candles or no candles. I left no place untouched. I wanted my guests to feel the love in every course and I believe they did. My menu consisted of the following: First Course: Honey loved fruit and assorted cheeses, paired with YoungBae Crisps and crackers and nuts. Second Course: Marinated Beef Filet, severed over Peppered Polenta Squares, topped with a Marinated Portbella Mushroom cap, Gorgonzola cheese and crispy onions. Third Course: Salted Caramel Brownies. Each course was paired perfectly with wines created by African American vintners. Appetite: The Wine Down was truly an experience. I can’t wait to do it again.
Major shouts to my guests, (who did not know each other prior to) my gracious home kitchen host, Lori, and my vendors, Sip and Share Winery and Crumbs of Love. They added special touches to my event and I’m thankful I get to support them in their work.
