Hey there! It’s Friday so that means I have another dish of Soul Food to share with you.
Often times I hear people say “Everything has a season.” And I wonder if they know exactly what they’re saying, and if they know they’re quoting a very popular yet powerful bible verse. In Ecclesiastes 3, we’re told “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV) Wow, simple Powerful stuff there. I love this chapter and it’s particular verses because this chapter then goes on to outline many of those “seasons” in life. There are many experiences that could be labeled as seasons- Life, death, new job, new car, old friends, old clothes, new relationships.
EVERYTHING we touch has a season? Meaning that there is an end insight for most if not everything we encounter. Good, bad, ugly or indifferent, there is a time for everything in our lives. The major “ah ha” factor to this, is learning how to be mature and walk out on faith when that season comes to an end. Real growth, real maturity happens when we can accept that it’s time for a season to change, and be ok with it. Seasons end. Even when it hurts. Even when it’s hard. Even when we don’t have all the answers. Even when it’s a stretching of our faith. Even if it means saying goodbye.
If you know that the season for harvesting apples is in September why would you try or even expect a good yield in a May?
Seasons matter. They all serve a purpose.
Know when it’s time to walk into a new season.
And when you walk, walk boldly!
