In celebration of Mother’s Day, I’m penning a letter to my sweet girl.
It’s early Sunday morning, and you’ve just woken up. You’re fighting an ugly case of Spring allergies. While I pitter patter over to your room, I can’t help but think about today being my 3rd Mother’s Day. How fast does this time fly. Our first Mother’s Day went by so fast. And it was kinda rough. I was still dealing and reeling from the loss of your great grandmother, whom you never met in the physical, but she knew you before you were here. When I went to tell her you were in my belly, she already knew! I pray I can have that type of wisdom to share with you. Your maternal grandmother Granita, is just as wise. She shows me everyday what a learning experience motherhood can be. I only hope I can be as awesome of a mom to you as she has been to me.
Like most moms, I’ve watched you in pure amazement. Amazed at your little voice, how strong and sweet it’s become. Amazed at your fearlessness, I so want to be more like you. I’m amazed at how matter-a-fact you are, even now. You’re so bright, so special, and I’m so thankful I get to be your mama.
So my sweet girl, thank you for this 3rd Mother’s Day together. Thank you for our jump and dance time on Saturday mornings. Thank you for runny noses and sweet cuddles. Thank you for making me slow down. Thank you for holding my hand every chance you get. Thank you for sweet giggles and belly giggles. Thank you for challenging me to be a better version of myself. Thank you for being so head strong, it gives me the best laughs after you’re in bed at night. Thank you for showing me the beauty of God through your discoveries everyday. Most of all, thank you, for being my daughter, you’ve changed my life.
Love,
Your Mama
