Soul Food Friday: Be a Blanket | Indianapolis Food Blogger 2

Happy Friday! We made it another work week.

I don’t know about you, but this week has been a very intense news week to say the least. Many changes, and many people have been airing some very hate filled feelings and beliefs. Stevie said it best, “ Love is in need of love today.” And that is why I’m led to share what I call “Be a blanket.” A blankets job is to covers us. It keeps us warm, it can be a safe place and it could shield body parts from hurt. We need to be that for other people. Be a blanket.

In the book of Isaiah, Chapter 40, we are told of the comfort for God’s people. This scripture really touches the heart of me, and I hope you’ll read it when you have a moment.

Life is trying. People are hurting in and out of church circles, and we as believers have a duty to comfort, and “be a blanket” to those people.
Being a blanket to someone can mean:
1. Offering a kind a word.
2. Listening when they are in need.
3. Praying for them.
4. Assist them in getting professional help. Yes, seeing a professional can be beneficial to your health and wellbeing.
5. Most of all, reassuring them that God is always near even when they are in what seems to be the wilderness.

“Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed,
that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.” (Isaiah 40: 1-2 NIV)

We are in this together. All of those who follow Christ, each have strengths and duties that combined are for the good of the kingdom.
Together we can accomplish much more than we can alone. So I say to you, partner with your sister, uplift your brother, be a blanket.

“Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.” (1 Corinthians 12-14)

Thanks for reading.
Love God. Love People. Eat Good!
